Our Charitable Objectives are

to raise funds to increase opportunities and enhance the education of the pupils at Sidestrand Hall School, either individually or as a group. It is not for day to day running expenses.

The Trustees meet regularly to review the accounts, review the shop operations and to make grant decisions

We raise funds from :-

  • Income from our charity shop – Strands
  • Commission on school photographs
  • Gift Aid
  • Sales of unsold rags and books (Ziffit)
  • Annual fundraising events – Summer Fete and Xmas fayre.
  • Donations from parents, governors, staff, local businesses eg for raffle prizes at our annual events, for other activities in the year eg Strandfest and direct donations
  • Seeking grant donations from external charities.

What we have done with funds raised in the past few years:-

Grants Received

Strands Charity Shop was opened in 2013 to raise funds for Strands Charity and also to provide a work experience base for our students to help develop their independence and life skills.

The shop is managed by a fantastic team of volunteers led by our shop manager – Sheila Neale.

Strands is open Monday , Tuesday and Thursday 10am- 4pm and Wednesday and Saturday 10am- 2pm. Closed Friday and Sunday. If we get more volunteers the shop opening times may be able to increase.

Donations can be taken to the shop during opening hours or, if from parents, sent into school.

We love good quality clothes, accessories, handbags, shoes, jewelry, books, toys, crockery, bric-a-brac, CD’s, DVD’s, bed linen and curtains, unwanted gifts and much more. We can now also accept small electrical items (as Cromer Electric have very kindly offered to PAT test them for free before resale).

Any items which are donated and we can’t sell are sent for recycling, with textiles raising additional funds through the ragbag programme and books being sold to Ziffit.

The shop is also a drop off point for donations of toiletries to Leeway – a domestic abuse charity that the School supports.
