Provider Access for Colleges and Training Providers

Sidestrand Hall School is committed to ensuring that all students have access to impartial information about the full range of learning and training routes that are available to them after year 11.

We are keen to work in partnership with external providers who can inform our students about post-16 pathways on offer.  For example: colleges providing vocational courses, apprenticeship providers and Higher Education institutions offering post-18 courses.  Additionally, we welcome involvement from employers, parents, charitable organisations and other stakeholders.

Opportunities to engage with students may include, for example: school assemblies or talks, employer and provider engagement events, remote information sessions using video conferencing tools or opportunities to speak with students and parents on a one-to-one basis at parent’s evenings or providers’ fairs.

We are happy to consider requests from providers to speak to students.  We will also proactively seek to build relationships with these partners as we plan our careers and enterprise activity throughout the school year, to ensure that providers have multiple opportunities to speak to students and their parents across years 7-11

All requests will be considered on the basis of: staffing availability to support the activity, clashes with other planned activity, interruption to preparation for examinations, or rooming and space availability to host the activity.

Students may also travel to visit another provider as part of the trip to be organised in partnership with Sidestrand Hall School

Parental involvement is encouraged, and parents may be invited to attend the events to meet the providers.

This statement sets out the school’s arrangements for managing the access of providers to students at the school, for the purposes of giving them information about the provider’s education or training offer. This complies with the school’s legal obligations under Section 42B of the Education Act 1997 and the Provider Access Legislation (PAL), January 2023. . It supports and is underpinned by key school policies including those for Careers, Child Protection, Equality and Diversity, and SEND.

Providers who would like to speak with our students, or provide information, should contact
