Scale E point 7-11 – Permanent £20,802 – £22,245 per annum

Hourly Rate £12.59 – £13.46 (£24,294 – £25,979 FTE)

37 hours a week term time + 1 week

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a residential team, providing high quality care for pupils. The residential provision is on the site of Sidestrand Hall School, which provides 4 nights residence, (Monday to Thursday inclusive), term time only. Sidestrand Hall School is a Complex Needs school providing education to pupils aged 7-19 years.

Job Role: Supporting young people with complex needs in a nurturing residential environment.

Shift patterns – Morning Shift: 7:30am-9:30am (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) Afternoon/Evening Shift: 2:30pm-10pm (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

Your working pattern will be a combination of these shifts, to make up your required weekly working hours, and will be discussed at interview. We welcome applications for those wishing to work on a part time basis. NB Some aspect of the job description may change slightly depending on number of part time hours worked.

Pupil Profile: Varied, including speech and communication difficulties, autistic spectrum condition, social and emotional mental health needs, and learning difficulties. Some pupils board several nights a week.


  • Work mornings and / or evenings with boarders to support their learning through a 24-hour curriculum.
  • Depending on hours per week worked, there will be an expectation that the successful candidate will eventually join in the sleep in rota. Sleep-in allowance is £40.76 per night
  • Provide guidance, support, and care to our pupils as part of a team.
  • Assist in developing independence in young people.

Candidate Profile:

  • Confident, self-motivated, and well organised.
  • Patient, committed, and compassionate.
  • Will hold Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or have a willingness to complete the qualification.
