Hello Everyone and Happy New Year from all of the Lower School department.
Well the year 2020 is off to a flying start in Lower School, Conkers have started their Vikings topic and are really enjoying it and have also started a new theme in their cooking sessions. Olive class have been out on a trip to Cromer. Acorns have started a new Science topic on Electricity.
Conkers: Conkers Class are about to embark on a Viking Voyage. So far we have looked at where the Vikings came from and why they invaded Britain. Watch this space for more exciting details!
This half term Conkers are cooking pasta dishes. We are off to a flying culinary start with macaroni cheese. Pasta bakes, pasta salads and other tasty dishes to follow.
Olive: On Monday 13th January Olive class went on a trip to Cromer to explore landmarks based around the North Sea. They visited the lifeboat station, the light house, walked along the promenade, the pier and found Henry Blogg’s statue. We enjoyed our lunch together in the About With Friends café where they got to practice their independent living skills by ordering and paying for a drink or slice of cake.
Acorns: Acorns Class have started a new topic in Science on electricity. We have looked at how electrical games and toys work and been playing with some. The favourite was the air hockey table. The students explored which things are run by electricity from the mains and electricity from batteries. Perhaps they could have a look at home too!
Lets hope that this year bring us lots more of exciting activities and learning at Sidestrand Hall School.
