Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural

Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural education is something we value highly at Sidestrand Hall School. This includes developing social skills, understanding right and wrong, looking at cultural and individual differences and beliefs, as well as appreciating everyone and their achievements.

We use weekly themes for assemblies which are linked to tutor time SMSC sessions. The yearly plan includes important events, celebrations and festivals in the world calendar.

Whole school Assemblies deliver the theme of the week to students. This is followed up in tutor time where pupils increase their knowledge and understanding of key themes through a variety of activities. These include discussions surrounding their own views and beliefs, as well as understanding those of others.

Weekly Achievement assemblies enable the whole school to come together to celebrate and appreciate the successes of others in our school community.
