All staff and pupils at Sidestrand Hall School have been issued with a google account which is part of the G-Suite for Education service provided by Norfolk County Council.
Sidestrand Hall School is part of the county’s domain, nsix, which is able to offer a more secure and safe environment for our pupils and staff. These accounts are maintained by Norfolk County Council, ICT Solutions Team.
The Google accounts include integration and access to numerous apps available. Below are the key apps that we are using at Sidestrand Hall School with some information and links to help you understand them more.
Accessing Account – In order to log into your google account, you must log in via the Norfolk Cloud Portal (see screenshot below). The link is: http://idp.nsix.org.uk/
When you click any of the Goggle apps, the log in screen will come up:
Only use the first part of your email address that is before the @nsix.org.uk. Once you log in, you can access all of the Google apps.
Other Subscribed Services
The school subscribes to Discovery Education/Espresso which has access to lots of educational content for early years learning. The content includes lesson packs, activities, videos, assignments, and much more. Resources are grouped by subjects and key stages and this is a great resource for home learning. This can be accessed by clicking the icon and then using your school issued nsix account to log in.
The school does not subscribe to other external applications on the Norfolk Cloud Portal menu, so they will not work.

Some extra information …
Emails – Emails are filtered through the county’s monitoring system and any emails flagged as having possible inappropriate content will be copied to one of the schools E-Safety Team for review. The E-Safety Team consists of the Head Teacher, Head of Care, and ICT Services Manager.
Google Drive – You can store your files securely and open or edit them from any device as they are stored online/in the cloud.
Docs – is the word processor component of Google’s online office suite. It’s a free alternative to Microsoft Word

Slides – is the presentation component of Google’s online office suite. It’s a free alternative to Microsoft PowerPoint.
Classrooms – Google Classroom enables teachers to create an online classroom area in which they can manage all the documents that their students need. Documents are stored on Google Drive and can be edited in Drive’s apps, such as Google Docs, Sheets, and so on. But what separates Google Classroom from the regular Google Drive experience is the teacher/student interface, which Google designed for the way teachers and students think and work.
ZOOM – at present Sidestrand Hall School’s policy is that open video conferencing/live streaming is not approved in the learning environment due to child protection/safeguarding issues. If the use of video calling is required, the request must be made, in advance, to the schools Designated Safeguarding Lead at firstname.lastname@example.org
